I definitely do not recommend it... by Megan B. at InsiderPages
Overall, my worst experience at UNCC would be dealing with the financial aid office. They are extremely slow, and extremely rude. I applied for a loan in mid-August, and the financial aid office still hasn't approved it because they are running behind on outside loans (it is now October 3rd). Which is a completely ridiculous excuse... and it infuriates me that they can hold my money for that long and I have yet to see a cent of it, even though I'm getting bills for the interest on it. I am positive they are just holding it to collect their own interest on my money. I am not the only person who has experienced this issue either.

Also, as for the overall academic experience... it really just seems like UNCC is trying to expand too quickly. They are just packing in more and more students, and in some of the large lecture classes... like Chemistry, Biology, Liberal Studies etc. Professors even complain that their class sizes have grown too much, which creates and overall bad experience for the students. So, naturally in the large lecture classes, the withdrawal and fail rates are extremely high. I personally chose UNCC because it was supposed to be sort of an upper-level Liberal Arts type college, but they have definitely strayed away from that within the past few years.
Pros: Nice campus, great housing, good English department...
Cons: Horrible financial aid, horrible advising, horrible professor/student interaction, and this is a huge commuter school... everyone will go home on weekends, so you should too, basically.
